地藏法会
SECTION 41. The Dharma Gathering of Ksitigarbha
在我等本师释迦佛初转法轮的吉祥日子，我们学院开这一地藏法会，也叫亿修普贤行愿法会，主要是修地藏法。
On this auspicious day, when our guru Buddha Shākyamuni turned the wheel of Dharma for the first time, our institute is holding the Dharma Gathering of Ksitigarbha, also called the 100 million recitations of Samantabhadra’s Aspirations, but mainly the practice is on Ksitigarbha,
而亿修普贤行愿，在四大法会中普遍都有。
since the 100 million recitations of Samantabhadra’s Aspirations are generally practiced in all the four Dharma gatherings.
地藏法会与金刚萨埵法会，基本是针对在家人开的。地藏法会专为庄稼丰收、万事顺遂而设，
Like the Vajrasattva Dharma gathering, the Ksitigarbha Dharma gathering is aimed at householders and is specially arranged to ensure a plentiful harvest and to fulfill wishes.
为此数劫祈祷文殊菩萨、普贤菩萨、弥勒菩萨、观音菩萨等，不如短短片刻祈祷地藏菩萨一次利益大，这在《地藏赞》中有宣说。说者不是别人，就是大悲释迦佛。
To reach these goals, it is not as effective to pray to Manjushri, Samantabhadra, Maitreya, Avalokiteśvara, and so on for many eons as it is to pray to Ksitigarbha for a brief moment. This was stated in In Praise of Ksitigarbha by the compassionate Buddha Shākyamuni rather than by anyone else.
大的方面，想获得最高成就佛果，要往生西方极乐世界；小的方面，为了吃的、喝的、穿的应有尽有，为了运气亨通、心想事成，也没有比祈祷地藏菩萨更好的了。
For goals as elevated as reaching the highest attainment of buddhahood, as well as ordinary goals such as bountiful food, drink, and clothing, and for good luck and fulfilling wishes, there is no better object to pray to than Ksitigarbha.
在家男女信众，如果祈祷地藏菩萨会有什么成效，你们应该清楚。
As laymen and laywomen, you must realize the good effects of praying to Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha.
比如，最近色达及其下游为主，包括炉霍、壤塘、新龙、甘孜等地几十天遭受严重旱灾，
For instance, as we know, Sêrtar and its downstream regions, such as Drango, Doba, Nyarong, Garzê, and so on, underwent severe drought for dozens of days.
在旱得最厉害的几天里，我们学院全体僧人念诵地藏菩萨名号，结果当下就下起雨来，有这样立竿见影的加持效果。
During the worst few days, all the Sangha members of our institute recited the name of Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha and rain started right away. The prayer had such an immediate effect of blessings.
祈祷地藏菩萨，今生能长寿无病、拥有财富、如愿以偿，对后世来讲，也是命终后能即刻同与自己结缘的一切众生往生极乐世界的不共近因。
Supplicate Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha — your prayer will effect a long life, health, and riches. Prayer can also fulfill your wishes in this life and, in regard to the next life, is an extraordinary immediate cause for taking rebirth in Dewachen right after death, not only for yourself but also for sentient beings connected to you.
不仅如此，如果祈祷地藏菩萨，究竟而言，自相续中必定会得到声闻、缘觉、菩萨、佛陀的无上功德与智慧。
Moreover, ultimately speaking, if you pray to Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha, you will surely attain the supreme merit and wisdom of the hearers, self-realized buddhas, bodhisattvas, and buddhas.
这位地藏菩萨，是十万个如意宝也无法与之相比的独特宝珠。
Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha is a unique jewel with whom even 100,000 wish-fulfilling jewels cannot compare.
若是祈祷普通的如意宝珠，它只能给予世间的财富，而不能赐予出世间的戒、定、慧等一切功德。
If you pray to an ordinary wishfulfilling jewel, it can bestow only worldly wealth but will not bestow supramundane merit such as discipline, concentration, and wisdom.
如今开这个法会，目的是为使雪域为主的所有众生，尤其是附近对我们有大恩的施主们，
Today we have this Dharma gathering. Our goal is to help sentient beings in the Land of Snow as well as those in cyclic existence, and especially neighboring benefactors for whom we hold deep gratitude.
能够丰衣足食、时来运转、万事顺利，消除对上者嫉妒、对中者竞争、对下者轻凌、怀着憎恨度日等即生感受的无量痛苦，以及死后立即转生到饿鬼界等将要感受的痛苦。
Help them not only to have bountiful food and clothing, good luck and smooth sailing, but also to have no jealousy toward superiors, no competition with peers, and no insults toward inferiors. And finally help them to be free from hatred and all sorts of sufferings both in this life and when reborn in the lower realms as hungry ghosts and so on after their death.
所以，是为他们即生财富受用圆满、后世挡住投生恶趣之门，才举办此法会的。
So it is to perfect their wealth and enjoyment and to shut the door to the lower realms for them that we have this Dharma gathering.
