The Promise To Welcome The Fortunate Ones
第六十八节
一心不乱
SECTION 68. Being Undistracted
我最初在汉地五台山怙主文殊菩萨前发愿，
Initially when I made aspiration in front of Bodhisattva Manjushri at Mount Wutai in the Chinese area,
最好我能将全球的芸芸众生都领到解脱道上，
my highest aspiration was to guide all sentient beings across the world onto the path of liberation,
中等能将中国的多数人领到解脱道上，
my middling aspiration was to lead most people in China on the path to liberation,
最低也是将藏地雪域的大多数人领到解脱道上。
and the lowest aspiration was to take the majority of people in the Land of Snow on the path to liberation.
但后来，不仅仅只是藏人，还让许多汉人和外国人生起了诚挚的信心，这真的就是文殊菩萨的发心威力。
Afterward, not only Tibetans but also a number of Chinese and people in other countries have gained sincere faith. This is truly the might of aspiration of Bodhisattva Manjushri.
我的愿望是，能不能令凡是见到、听到、忆念、接触我的众生全部往生极乐世界，
My wish is that can I make everyone who sees me, hears me, remembers me, or touches me take rebirth in Dewachen.
如果做不到这样，看能不能使大多数往生极乐。
If this is impossible, can most of them do so?
我不是给你们讲了嘛，我自己平时的修行也是发愿往生极乐世界，你们最好也这样选择。
Haven’t I told you before? I myself make the aspiration in my daily practice to take rebirth in Dewachen. I hope you also make this choice.
有的人一会儿发愿生到兜率天，一会儿发愿往生铜色吉祥山，一会儿又发愿现喜刹土，一会儿又发愿普陀山，这样不太好。
Some people make the aspiration to be born in Tushita Heaven one time, then on Copper-Colored Auspicious Mountain another time, then in the Pure Land of Manifest Joy the next time, and then on Potala Mountain, and so on. This is truly not good.
临死的心，就像在雷鸣电闪、霹雳巨响时的心态一样，
At the moment of death, our mind is in a state similar to a state of mind suddenly hit by a flash of lightning and a thunderbolt strike.
那时候心如果不能做到淡定，一会儿祈祷莲花生大士，一会儿祈祷至尊度母，一会儿皈依上师，一会儿皈依佛陀，没有一个指定处，就像逗疯子说话一样，怎么能行呢？
If you cannot keep your mind calm at that time, first praying to Guru Rinpoché for a while, then praying to Jetsun Tara for a moment, then taking refuge with a guru for an instant, then taking refuge with the Buddha, and so on, without a determined point of focus, and just murmuring like a madman, how can you work it out or process the experience?
死亡时是非常恐怖的。
The moment of death is extremely horrific.
所以，提到“修行净土”，那个净土是不需要我们依靠自力来修的，阿弥陀佛已经在他的世界设好丰盛的美味佳肴等着我们，
When “Pure Land practice” is spoken of, this pure land does not require our own, force of will, because Buddha Amitābha has already set up a sumptuous, palatable feast that is waiting for us.
就像儿子回到父亲家里一样，不会有一点儿困难。
To be born there is just like a son going back to his father’s house, not difficult at all.
因此，大家要一心向往西方极乐。
Therefore everyone should have a single-pointed intention to be born in Dewachen.
