介 Brief Introduction


文章是研究成人自主学习且首次使用元分析为分析方法的文章,元分析方法的使用在本文得到了详细的阐释。


究问题 Research Questions 


RQ1: What are descriptive features of adult self-direction in learning research studies?

RQ2: What variables have been identified in the research as being associated with adult self-direction in learning? 

RQ3: What are the relative strengths of the relationships between each of these variables and adult self-direction in learning?

RQ4: To what extent can the strengths of the relationships between each of these variables and adult self-direction in learning be associated with substantive or methodological characteristics of the studies examined?


究方法 Research Methods 



Data were collected from 67 studies on adult self-direction in learning and included a total of 388 effect sizes. Data analysis proceeded in two steps: First, descriptive statistics of the data studies were calculated; and second, statistical analysis of the coded data using the effect size as the dependent variable was performed.

1)文章一共204页,但文章逻辑清晰,易读懂。

2)这篇文章是使用元分析分析方法的经典文章,作者经过制定一系列的标准来筛选、提炼出最有效的信息,对正在学习元分析以及复习元分析的读者起到了巩固作用。

Concrete, holistic, or intuitive cognitive style; 15. Degree of self-directed learning activity; 16. Environmental factors that encourage learning efforts; 17. Environmental factors that discourage learning efforts; and18. Factors related to longevity on the job.作者对每个变量分别做了单独的相关性研究,并且在不同的变量中还做了比较。这对弄清楚1977年到1987年承认自主学习时期的研究方向有帮助。

4)笔者还发现不同阶段的元分析文章,比如在2012年发表的,和研究1997-2005年的成人自主学习的两篇元分析文章。通过不同阶段的元分析,是否可以尝试使用趋势外推(Trend Extrapolation)的教育计划与推测工具来预测当下成人自主学习的主要影响因素呢
