研究问题 Research Questions
RQ: To evaluate the success of a programme of Advance Care Planning education for nursing homes by examining the effect on staff knowledge, Advance Care Planning practice within the home and end-of-life hospital admission rates.
研究方法 Research Methods
Three longitudinal questionnaires assessing staff knowledge, Advance Care Planning Practice and hospital deaths completed before and after the initiation of the Advance Care Planning education programme by homes that had completed the training and those yet to undergo the training.
读后感 Comment
(1) About the purpose of this research: clear.
(2) About the conceptual and theoretical Framework: lack of these two part, maybe the reason was this article aim to solve practical problems for some entrepreneurs or businessmen and governments who hurry to make some planning or strategies so decrease the academic of this article.
(3) About uncontrollable factors: the original ACP data was different with the post-intervention data because in care homes the high rate of staff turnover is commonly phenomenon which contribute the difficulties to compare the responses related to knowledge and confidence on the two ACP surveys directly were could resulted from the individual factor rather than whether training or not. Although exist some other factors such as the different month the rate of hospital deaths was different.

Data Analysis: data analysis is one of the big strength in this article. The first comparison was the pre-intervention questionnaires completed by those who don't undergone the training between post-intervention questionnaires completed by those having undergone the training. There was also a comparison of between the participants who did complete the training with who did not complete the training but work in nursing homes. The final comparison was about hospital death for each nursing home. These comparisons deepen the reader's comprehension of the research purpose step by step.
